Purpose:
To survive and be accepted within groups; to be validated by those in control.
Question(s):
How can I survive and be accepted within this group? What rules must I follow? What beliefs must I accept? If I disagree with the rules, how far can I bend them before getting into trouble?
Information:
Information and knowledge about how the group functions, about its rules, taboos and customs which will enable me to survive and be accepted in the group.
Inference(s):
Judgments about group beliefs, rules, conventions and taboos that help me understand the group so as to be accepted in it and not get into trouble.
Concept(s):
Conformity as necessary for survival and acceptance; humans as existing in hierarchies with beliefs and rules with which group members are expected to adhere.
Assumption(s):
To survive, I must learn to fit into groups; I will get into trouble if I question certain rules, taboos or customs of the group.
Implication(s):
As long as I follow the rules of the group, I can survive in the group. If I go against group beliefs and rules I will be punished.
Point(s) of View:
Seeing conformity as necessary for survival; seeing groups as hierarchical in nature, requiring conformity to rules and conventions.
